Physical Education

The core PE program stresses development of skills in a wide variety of activities to encourage students to find ways to enjoy physical activity in leisure time and to develop awareness of the importance of personal fitness.

The vision is for all students to be involved in physical education and to have fun while moving. Students who participate in quality physical education programs receive a variety of benefits, including:
  • development of a variety of motor skills and abilities related to lifetime leisure skills
  • improved understanding of the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle
  • improved understanding of movement and the human body
  • improved knowledge of the rules and strategies of particular games and sports
  • self-confidence and a sense of self-worth in relation to physical education and recreation programs

All PE classes meet the California Challenge Standards in Physical Education.

PE Uniform
All OHS students must “dress down” for PE. You may purchase the standard uniform of shirt and shorts in school colors. Any appropriate athletic shoes and socks may be worn.
