| | STUDIO ART Course Requirement: Grades 10-12
Prerequisite: Drawing, Color and Design with “A” or “B" grades instructor's approval.
Length: Semester or year class; may be repeated for credit as long as a “C” grade or better is maintained at each semester. Studio Art.
Studio Art is a demanding, college preparatory class specifically for the advanced artist. It is treated primarily as a studio workshop; students are expected to be self-motivated and to do high quality work. Mediums may include acrylic, watercolor, oil paint, prisma colors, pastels, intaglio, silkscreen silversmithing, stained glass and ceramics, among others. Students will also study artists and their techniques. At the end of the year, all students will have completed a portfolio of work and will have completed their own art book- the coveted Design Log. Because of the changing nature of this class, it may be repeated three times for full credit each time. Studio Art is an approved "VPA" course.
Advanced placement credit may be given to those students who complete and pass the AP General Portfolio review in their senior year. Instructor permission is required.
