| | DRAMA Course Requirement: Grades l0-l2.
Length: Semester/Year class. Course content: This course is designed to develop a student’s skills in communication. The emphasis is on techniques of acting and understanding and theatre is an art form. The latter includes extensive pantomime, improvisation, stage movement, study nomenclature, oral interpretation, and makeup. Writing assignments include critical observations of acting technique, play form, method acting, and development of script. The course includes film production during the third quarter, and the historical perspective component and a speech unit within the fourth quarter. This is an approved "VPA" course. | |

| | THEATRE WORKSHOP Course Requirement: Grades 11-12
Prerequisite: With “A” or “B” grade in Drama and instructor's permission.
Length: Year Course Content: The goal of this course is to produce plays for the school and community. The student will develop skills in advanced acting techniques, lighting, costuming, and stagecraft. Class members will be expected to head and control all areas of theatre production. There will be at least two or three full public performances per year. The structure of the class emphasizes the building of a student-run “company” that can grow and change with each new addition of members, but will strive toward “good theatre” practice with productions of value to the performers and their audience. This class includes a yearly one-day field trip to CSU, Chico for the "High School Theatre Festival." This course does not count toward English graduation credit. This is an approved VPA course. | |
