| | ELAC Meeting Minutes
10-20-09
Location: Mill Street School
C.K. Price Middle School ELAC
T. Johansen did introductions and welcomes.
Parents were given a copy of the agenda and the power point from the DELAC meeting.
T. Johansen confirmed that all parents present wanted to be members of ELAC. All present said yes
Fransica Morales, Francisco Diaz, and Herminia Valdovinos-Tinoco were selected to be on the DELAC committee.
T. Johansen asked for the parents to share concerns, questions, or any idea that they may have had. The following comments were made:
“My child is doing very good. There is good communication between teachers and my home”.
“We are happy with how things are going”.
Suggestions given were:
*Parents would like to have help learning about how to keep their children computer-safe (internet-security).
*Open SPARK to more students
*More info on gang and drug prevention on campus needed
*Sports- parents want sports to be open to more students. Can SPARK facilitate this?? Also- parents concerned with the cost of insurance needed in order to play sports. Are there any programs that could help with this expense?????
T. Johansen encouraged those present to spread the word about meetings. She expressed the importance of having more parents input. Some ideas shared about getting more parents to attend were:
*give-aways
*make it known that child care is available
*have other parents encourage friends or families to come
*coffee
Ideas for next ELAC meeting:
