| | Orland Unified School District expects the recent steady enrollment growth to continue, and we realize that it's crucial that we project our future needs for new classrooms, expanded facilities and maybe even a new school!
We have hired an architectural firm to draw up a master plan for the district, including suggestions for renovations, expansions and new buildings. Below is the timeline so far –new information will be added here as it becomes available.
April 19, 2007: The Board of Education hired TLCD Architecture of Santa Rosa to assess existing school district facilities and make recommendations for future needs.
April 24-25, 2007: TLCD consultants toured C.K. Price Middle School, Mill Street and Fairview elementary schools and Orland High School.
May-June, 2007: Consultants will develop their proposals. The "wish list" of areas to be addressed includes: - Insulation
- Electrical and computer network delivery
- Energy conservation
- Improve plumbing
- Office space.
- Food service facilities
- Cafeteria seating
- Computer lab
- Security & accessibility issues
- Music & athletic storage
- Portable classrooms
- High school & middle school athletic facility needs
- Need for a new school
Late June/early July, 2007: TDLC will deliver a report with cost projections in two areas: - a basic facilities assessment of work needed immediately
- long-term options
